Use information from mobile phones in an investigation and as evidence
Extracting complete and unaltered information from mobie phones and smartphones is vital for any investigation. A cell phone can be a ‘black box’ providing invaluable information for a criminal investigation. A doubt in the authenticity of data extracted from the device immediately dismisses any value the data could have as court eidence, and negates its usefulness for investigation purposes. Modern mobile phones contain much more information than most people realize. Symbian OS based smartphones store data such as call list, SMS events, GPRS and Wi.Fi data connections in system event logs, but no access to such data is provided with any of the original manufacturer’s consumer tools or commercially available third.party alternatives. Sony Ericsson smartphones store even more information, and have even less extraction support from the manufacturer and the third parties. Oxygen Forensic Suite by Oxygen Software http://www.oxygensoftware.com/ not only provides complete access to all information stored in mobile and smartphones, but it guarantees the authenticity of the data it extracts. Information obtained from cellular phones with the help of Oxygen Forensic Suite is authentic enough to be recognized as cout evidence. Technically, Oxygen Forensic Suite is one of the most advanced data extraction tools on the market. It is also among the most compatible ones, supporting over 300 different Nokia phones and smartphones based on Symbian OS. Symbian smartphones are manufactured by numerous companies, including BenQ, Lenovo, LG, Motorola, Panasonic, Samsung, Sendo, Siemens, Sony Ericsson, and Vodafone. Oxygen Software fully stands behind its products, and adds support for the new phones shortly after they are released on the market. Basic information extracted by Oxygen Forensic Suite starts with information about the phone itself such as its model, serial number, and IMEI and SIM.card data. This is followed by detailed address book and contact lists including the phone numbers, pictures, e.mail addresses, and fax numbers. Also extracted are caller groups, logs of calls that were dialed, received, missed or forwarded, SMS, MMS and E.mail messages including service data, calendars, schedulers and organizer events, To.Do items, text notes, uploaded files and photos taken with the embedded digital camera, video and sound clips, games and Java applications. Oxygen Forensic Suite has access and fully extracts all information contained in a given cell phone. Oxygen Forensic Suite can be used in any country and extracts data in any language thanks to its full Unicode support. Unlike consumer.grade tools, Oxygen Forensic Suite won’t garble your data when it encounters a non.Latin character. Extracted data can be conveniently exported in a format of your choice or viewed and analyzed directly. Oxygen Forensic Suite comes with a highly customizable analyzer and report generator. If you need a colleague to access the extracted information from a remote location over the Internet, Oxygen Forensic Suite comes with a remote Viewer designed specifically for the purpose. Oxygen Forensic Suite is available in several types of licenses ranging from EUR 299 to EUR 499. Order your copy at: http://www.oxygensoftware.com/

Preventing And Reversing Data Loss
One of the most stressful times that a simple student or employee may encounter is a loss of an important file on the computer. It can be a day of doom if you are due to submit your paper or make a presentation and at the worst possible moment your file is deleted. Thus, data recovery may be the answer you are looking for. Data recovery is technology that will help you to salvage lost data. First things first, you may want to take out your rolodex and try calling your tech-savvy friends to help you out. In case you have no more choice, you just might have to spend a little bit to get yourself a data recovery software or a specialist to help you out.
1. Determine What’s Wrong:
- your computer will not start at all
- blue screen of death
- your computer boots up, but files are missing or are corrupted
- your computer opens up but you cannot seem to find some of your other drives
2. Weird Sounds
Before doing anything, try to hear if there are any sounds coming from your hard drive like a weird scratching, scraping or ticking. If you do hear something like it, then it is enough to conclude that your hardware may be physically damaged. The only possibility for you is to take your computer to a data recovery service where experts might be able to get your data off for you. Of course, this would entail a lot of time and money, so you may want to weigh the value of the data you lost before going a step further.
3. Do-It-Yourself Data Recovery Tips:
- Acquire and download software to help you out
- Not all software is free
- Attach your hard drive to another computer if your computer has only a single drive. This is to provide enough space to store all your data
- If your computer has a rollback safety feature, try and roll back to a previous saved state to restore damage
4. Possible Causes Of Damage:
- Lightning strike
- Virus
- Hard drive failure
- Accidental deletion of data
- Water/fire damage
- Improper software installation overwriting important data
5. Be Prepared - Make Backups
Having back-ups is the only solution to your data loss problems. They come in various forms:
- Virus protection software
- Personal firewall
- CD backup
- DVD backup
- RAID hard drive
6. Back-Up Tips
- Try investing in backup software of good quality and performance. Products that leave you secured from data loss disaster or further computer file crashes are always a good investment.
- Double check the restore capability. The software should have features that guarantee that while the product is performing your back up it checks all the data down to the level of bits and bytes.
- Double check the capability of your back up medium. Invest on the best back up software you can get and at the same time, for the purposes of prevention, start manually and diligently backing up your data regularly.
- Do an inspection of your hard drives from time to time. Always be on guard of viruses and spywares that can possibly crash your hardware. Defrag your computer regularly to correct errors and check bad sectors as soon as they are detected.
- Be sure you conduct a proper documentation of what transpired during the data loss disaster, what you have observed, as it progresses and the things you attempted doing to give your files the first aid. This will help the data recovery expert to track the problem and recommend the best solution for your problem.

How to Change Folder Icon or Folder Color?
How to Change Folder Icon or Folder Color?
If you are like any computer user, then you have plenty of folders where you keep Word documents, spreadsheets, pictures, music and an endless list of other things. Sometimes the folders are so many that they may literally cripple your productivity and you may be in a devil of a time trying to find the folder with the document you need at the moment. Plus, with so many similar-looking yellow folders it is easy to make a mistake and carelessly delete an important folder. The chaos too many folders can create can be staggering!
Of course, Microsoft has thought about the way to tackle the too-many-same-looking-folders problem by allowing users to change the icon of a folder with a new one that will make the folder visually stand out of the crowd. But the way users can do this is needlessly complicated as users have to go down a long ‘click-and-open road’ through Windows dialogs before they can actually change the icon folder. Take a look at the following:
a. How to change folder icons in the standard Windows way
- First, you should select and right-click the folder
- Secondly, select Properties from the drop-down menu
- Thirdly, select Customize tab in the dialog
- Then click on Change Icon button
- Select an icon from the suggested list
- And change the icon by clicking on OK and then Apply button
Hem. Six steps to change a folder icon are too many!
Hopefully, there is one small utility that can do the same in a very different manner than Windows, actually in ONE click, and users will have a better choice of options and icons. The utility is called Folder Marker 2.0 Pro and it can be downloaded at http://www.foldermarker.com/folder-marker-pro.php?discount=HowToArticle.
b. How to change folder icons in the Folder Marker’s way
- Select an icon from the right-click menu of a folder.
That’s it! Only one step to change a folder icon! Isn’t that cool or what? Using Folder Marker couldn’t be simpler. The application’s designers wanted to make the ability to change a folder icon or a folder color as painless as possible and they’ve done an outstanding job. With Folder Marker, you’ll mark out folders with the same simplicity as you would copy or cut a folder by selecting this option from the right-click menu of the folder.
Now there is no need to make a ’round-the-world journey’ through multiple dialogs. There is even no need to run Folder Marker itself! Simply select the folder you want to mark out, select a new icon from the right-click menu and it’ll be assigned instantly. You can change icons not only for one folder, but also for several folders all together with the same one-click approach. Just select the folders with the mouse and choose an icon from the right-click menu.
Folder Marker offers a great choice of image-coded and color-coded folder icons that can be used to categorize folders by different parameters. For example, you can mark out folders by:
- priority (high, normal, low)
- level of project completeness (done, half-done, planned)
- stage of development (one, two, three, four, etc.)
- type of information stored in them (work, important, temp and private files)
- status (approved/rejected/pending)
Picture 1: Folder Marker offers a great choice of image-coded and color-coded folder icons
The icons in Folder Marker are self-explanatory and include many colors, dark and light colors, many categories, and they carry letters and numbers. Of course, the default set of icons can be expanded with the unlimited number of new icons that you have downloaded from the internet, or created in the icon editor yourself. Folder Marker can assign icons to a folder from a wide array file formats, such as ICO, ICL, EXE, DLL, CPL or BMP.
The folders that have been assigned new icons can be made distributable. It means a Folder Marker’s icon will remain unchanged even if the folder is copied onto a removable device, such as a USB-key, moved to another computer or burned onto CD or DVD. To make a folder icon distributable, it is necessary to select the ‘Make customized folder distributable’ option. Besides, there is one more interesting option in the program. It allows you to apply the selected icon to all subfolders inside the folder.
If for some reason you want to remove the icons that have been added using Folder Marker, you can easily do this by using the ‘Roll Back All Changes’ option. Select this option and the icons will return to their original standard look instantly without any problems.
You can customize the Folder Marker’s menu to your own needs by adding new menu items and categories and assigning icons to them. Customization takes nothing but a few clicks on the icons you’d like to add or remove, and separators you’d like to add to organize the menu. The menu customization option is great because you can add only those icons that you’ll actually use on a regular basis and remove those that are useless for your everyday computational routine. Besides, customization lets you personalize the desktop in the way you want it to see and the way you will find yourself comfortable with, working with such a menu.
Initially the menu customization option was added to change the LEGEND OF DEFINITIONS. For some users, for example, it is difficult to remember what a blue folder means and what makes it different from a green one. This is why they may have the menu where it’s directly written that blue folders are for design projects and green ones are with the programming code.
Folder Marker is a cute little desktop enhancement tool that’s worth its virtual weight in the agony and frustration it may save you from when you find it difficult to find the folder you need. Many people use the program to change folder icons just because Folder Marker made it fun. Below you can read what they think about the program.
“My eyesight isn’t particularly good, but when this small program came into existence, it made my life ten times better. Keep it up! And thanks,” Mark
“Folder Marker is one of those little utilities that once you have it you wonder how you ever did with out it. It lets you mark your Windows Explorer folders in a couple of different ways, either using the context menu (right click) or by starting the Folder Marker program and browsing,” Sharewarejunkies.com
“Hello, this is a program I’ve always looked for since 2001 and only this week discovered your great app to change folder colors. This is my favorite tweak for Windows Explorer,” Gary Greenwald
“Many THANKS, an excellent program, keep up the good work,” Unique
With its changing folder icons function, Folder Marker can be used to customize old fashioned folder icons with new, more exciting and polished Windows Vista icons. A bunch of free Vista icons can be found here: http://www.horizonum.com/en/products/graph/vista_toolbar.html. Download the icons and Folder Marker now and give your desktop a trendy Vista look with new folder icons. Be trendy! Everyone will be jealous!

The Solution To Finding Your Lost Files - Data Recovery Companies
When the worst happens to your computer and all your files disappear, never worry! There are a number of quality data recovery companies that are able to restore your critical files quickly and easily.
Instead of tearing out your hair over a stubborn computer that is holding that essential file hostage, let the worries slide away and send off your hard drive to a data recovery company. These companies work their magic and recover files of all sizes in a remarkably quick turn around time. This service is essential for any individual or business that has fallen onto hard times with their computer.
Most data recovery companies operate over the internet and occupy cyberspace as they would a store front. If you find yourself in need of a quality company to find your files, look no further than the World Wide Web.
A simple search of search engines will produce hundreds of quality companies eager to solve your every problem. Before you send off your hard drive, carefully evaluate the chosen company to ensure it is legitimate and reputable. Using an incorrect company may result in further headaches and a loss of money for services not rendered.
Upon your search for a data recovery company, investigate their capabilities and services. Choosing a company that will best serve your needs will ensure the greater success in the end. You may need to compare services versus charges for these data recovery companies.
The old adage, ?you get what you pay for? could not be truer when it comes to regaining your lost files. If you are taking the trouble to send off your hard drive in an attempt to reclaim critical files for business or personal reasons, then you should be prepared to spend the appropriate amount of money to get the job done. However, just because one data recovery is more expensive than another one does not mean the pricier company is more successful.
When choosing a data recovery company to reclaim your files, consider contacting individuals who has used their services in the past. This recommendation to use or to avoid the company may be an excellent method to choosing a company.
Also, contact the company directly and explain your specific situation. A representative for the company will be able to discuss the possibility of the recovery of your files and the estimated cost of their services. You should be sure to inquire the expense if the company is unable to recover the lost files. Many companies offer to return your hard drive without charging for their services if they are unable to deliver your compromised files.
Whichever data recovery company you entrust to regain your lost files, be sure to keep the company?s contact information if you are pleased with the services rendered. Having this resource can be invaluable if a similar fate befalls your files in the future and you need a reputable source to recover these files as quickly as possible. If you are pleased with the data recovery company, be sure to tell other individuals in your predicament.

PicaJet Photo Manager 2.5 Review
Introduction:
You can use the navigation menu at the bottom of each section to quickly jump to any point in the review, or if you are feeling brave you can read it straight through. Either way, make sure you leave a comment if this was helpful of if you have any insight on the topic.
If you decide to go on the hunt for an app to help organize your digital photos you could easily be overwhelmed with all the freeware and junkware floating around the web. While many claim to be the the “Ultimate Photo Manager”, there are really only a couple of choices for those who want to do more with their photos than just browse and print them.
PicaJet is a programme that I found (while googling) for what people consider to be the best Digital Photo Management tool around. It came down to PicaJet, Picasa (by google), and ACDSee. Having previously used Picasa I knew exactly what I did and did not want in a Digital Photo Manager. I consider myself to have completed the search for a tool that fits the bill in finding PicaJet.
Overview:
At $39.99 for the full version, you might be tempted to stick with a lesser programme such as Picasa, however there are two or three main things that make PicaJet stand out among other programmes of this sort. If you combine those along with all the standard features that you might expect you have a winning package.
- Categories: A way to organize photos using categories (or tags).
- Ease of use: They nailed the mix of features and ease of use (not always easy)
- EXIF data: The ability to view, sort by, and update the existing meta data (”headers”) of a given photo.
- Grouping: Group based on date taken, date imported, local folder, and much more.
- Importing: A simple way to import photos from your camera with a couple of steps.
- Editing: The ability to do basic photo manipulation on one or multiple photos.
- Printing: Bringing your photos into the real world so that you can enjoy them all the time.
- Sharing: The ability to distribute your photos easily via email, cd’s, the web and more.
As with many pieces of great software around today, PicaJet has a thriving forum community with responsive and present developers who will personally respond to questions and features requests, even for users of the free version.
Features:
Categories:
PicaJet has a wonderful system for categorizing your photos. Some programmes have the ability to use Keywords (such as Picasa) or tags, however the hierarchical (or tree) method that PicaJet uses to categorize your photos, opens up a whole new world of organization. As you can see in the screenshots below I have selected the category for my daughter Eden. This causes only photos in this category to appear in the reults on the right. By holding ctrl and clicking on another category, I could select as many categories as I would like to further trim down the results on the right. For example I could again select Eden and Florida, and I would be shown only photos that matched both of those categories. You can also select any given parent category, in this example Kids to show photos that have either Eden or James in them. At any point you may also exclude any category by right-clicking on it and choosing to exclude it from the results. To assign a photo to a given category simply select the photo (or photos) and then click on the little paper clip symbol next to the desired category, then click again on your selected photos. To top all of this off PicaJet will save all the category info including the categories structure into the photos own meta data (headers) so that it is readable by other programmes and websites (i.e. Flickr).
Now make no mistake there is definitely a time investment in categorizing your photos (more time the more complex you make your categories), however taking this time now will save you tons of time in looking for what you want in the future.
Grouping:
One of the key features lacking in Picasa is the ability to group your photos other than by date. With PicaJet you are given the choice to group photos based on the following criteria:- Created Date (month, day, hour)
Modified Date (month, day, hour)
EXIF Date (month, day, hour)
Rating
Imported Time
Folder on disk
In the screenshot below I have the same images as in the previous screenshot (Eden only) however this time they are grouped based on the hour they were taken.
Keywords:
digital photo organizing, image management, picture database, photo cataloging, photo viewer, photo management, EXIF, IPTC, XMP, red-eye removal, Flickr Uploader, Fotki Uploader

Some external drives are available with firewall interface. They are available from 20 GB to 120 GB. Maxtor, Fantom, Iomega are some of the manufacturers of external hard drives.
All the above data backup mediums i.e. Floppy, Zip, CD, DVD, USB flash drives are portable.
Fixed Data Backup Mediums
Tape drive - They can read or write the data sequentially. They are available from few kilobytes to gigabyte range. Their speed is quite high. Some of the faster tape drives can transfer the data at the rate of 20 MB per second. Certance is one of the tape drive manufacturers, which uses industry-standard tape media. Tape drives are generally used in the industry for storage of huge data or in big corporations.
Mirrored Hard drive ” There are 2 hard drives. One drive acts as a Master and other as a slave. Whatever data is copied on master, it automatically generates mirror image on slave. They are available from 20 GB onwards.
Remote data backup ” It is maintained on remote server. In case of flood, fire or any other natural calamities, it is better to go for remote data backup. There are lots of service providers. Document Management System in Mortgage Industry
In this article, we look at the critical importance of a good document management system in the mortgage industry. The emphasis is on understanding the document-intensive nature of the mortgage industry. We also look at the specific ways in which a document management system can help, and how a good DMS produces concrete business results in the mortgage industry. Preliminary Verifications The mortgage lender has to ensure that both the borrower and the property are worthy of risking their money. The lender verifies the creditworthiness of the borrower by checking the person s credit record, assets and liabilities and current income levels. All these verifications have to be done by referring to documents, copies of which the lender keeps for his record. Then comes verifying the property. Does the borrower already have, or would be able to acquire, a good title to the property? Are there any existing liens on this property? These verifications would typically involve going through a large number of documents. Finally, the property has to be assessed for its value and condition. A competent surveyor makes the assessment and prepares a property report. Upon pledging, the property documents pass into the custody of the lender, who has to maintain these safely for several decades. Processing the Mortgage Loan Processing a mortgage typically involves the following:
- Appraisal
- Credit Report
- Escrow Deposit for taxes & insurance
- Paying Title Company Closing Fee
- Buyer’s Attorney Fee
- Lender’s Attorney Fee
- Home Inspection
- Title Insurance
- Flood Determination/Life of Loan Coverage
- Homeowners Insurance
- Underwriting
- Survey
- Down Payment
- Loan Discount Points
- Drafting the mortgage deed and incidentals
- Payment of Transfers Taxes
- Recording at County Records
- Couriering Documents
- Prepayment of Interest
- Settlement Statement listing all costs and fees
- Truth-in-Lending Statement disclosing the annual percentage rate
- Mortgage Note detailing the terms and conditions of the loan
- Mortgage Deed of Trust identifying the property offered as security and affirming the charge created, and the various undertakings agreed by the borrower relating to the property
- Monthly Payment Letter detailing the amounts and due dates of principal and interest payments under the loan
